Bug on Shen's Gift Last Stage. Game stalls out.

I am having a problem with the 3rd and last stage of Shen's Gift.
The game stalls out. Usually when the Sectopod breaks out, but sometimes sooner.
It feels like the the game is slowing down then gets stuck.


Details:
v1.4 (Alien Hunters disabled/turned off)
Using Steam, and auto-update.
Current mods are pretty much identical to XWynns at time of post.
Not sure if this is the cause but I have noticed some issues with the Spark's overdrive skill (You have to hit end turn after activating) And when my spark went up the elevator on the previous level, that turn I had activated "overdrive" and moved to the elevator on his 3rd move.
I have a save game.

So I loaded from the a previous save, and played through the level. And everything went fine.
I assume the bug is caused by a very specific event. Perhaps overdrive skill on spark, or something else.
