Discussing medics: what do you all think of field medic on a shooter (ranger, assault, sniper, etc) as an AWC perk? Worthless? Enables you to run without a specialist? Useful backup for a specialist on high body count missions like supply raids, psi gate, and waterworld?
I had the fortune to roll field medic on one of my better rangers and my A team assault. I was thinking it would be useful backup to my specialist on waterworld and means I don't have to think about bringing a second specialist. But I'm curious what your thoughts are.

Doesn't sound too bad for me. Once again, RF on makes me prioritize medkits on longer missions. Bullett sponge assaults might make good use of it but it takes away the ammo slot as you would want as much armor and HP on them as possible.
A ranger or gunner can much rather spend a slot on a medkit. Ablative and ammo is standard for me if defense isn't horrible and leaves space for then 3 medkits. The wounded soldiers would have to come and pick up the heal at the rangers position during combat under critical circumstances though as the ranger will have no time to waste on movement plus healing then.

They are mostly useful to heal between engagements as you are unlikely to be right next to them when you are wounded during a fight so they help on non timed missions where you can make a pose between fights : ambushes (if you don't trigger everyone) and HQ mostly.Elder_Basilisk wrote:Discussing medics: what do you all think of field medic on a shooter (ranger, assault, sniper, etc) as an AWC perk? Without medical protocol or savior it's kind of weak. Specialists get +1 per gremlin rank and +4 with savior. This means that with a gremlin 2 (easy to acquire) you should have 8 HP/kit. A ranger brings 3/kit and so gets only 6 HP from field medic unless you do the medkit PG project.Elder_Basilisk wrote:Discussing medics: what do you all think of field medic on a shooter (ranger, assault, sniper, etc) as an AWC perk? Edit: it would be easier to make your specialist into a shooter than your shooter into a medic(though it is unfortunate that specialists lose the two best shooting perks of they want the medic tree)
