Would you think valid a strategy based in one suicide shinobi?

Post by josna238 »

I have just received advise of a dark event mission with 2 days left. It needs to hack something on advent station. My idea is simple, I will chose a 17 mobilty shinobi, unequip all, chose a smg and will try to sneak up to one blue movement to the objective, then hack it and probably die.

Pretty sure you need to make it out with the package. The other option is to hack, throw evac flare, and dash all around the map throwing the evac flares. Evac flare has a cooldown, but everytime you toss it, it'll take less turns for Firebrand to get to you.

It'll work if it's a Hack Workstation mission, but not if it's a Data Recovery mission.

No need to sacrifice a shinobi, can just use a rookie.

Yes it is a hack thing on station, and yes is better to buy the fastes rookie and send to die, I didn't realised that... I am afraid it is too late because my shinobi is already infiltrating...

You can go to the mission and cancel the infiltration at any time. You'll have to restart infiltration with the new 'sacrifice' but it can technically be done.

You can also attempt a "fakeout". Enemies respond to evac flares and also to units that have already evac'd with them. So if you take a rookie along with your shinobi and throw a flare at the start of the mission. They can evac from the flare and enemies will swarm that location (so long as they're revealed and they cannot see your another unit, revealed or no). You can then throw another evac after booking it with your shinobi and escape without nearly as much worry about dying

I never use any plan that contains "sacrifice". My soldiers are the best of mankind so I treat them like valuable persons, not just quest-machines. I always have a plan to survive the missions (I skip all certain death missions).

Every soldier has its own value - even rookies. I try to liberate as many regions as I can because this is the best way to delay the Avatar project and control Advent strenght a bit. So I have to take 6-10 missions at a time, therefore I need 6-10 squads at hand. I deploy 40+ soldiers at same time, I need all of them!

Soldiers can sacrifice themselves for the success of the mission or for their comrades if absolutly necessary but I never "plan" a mission including suicide - they will die if something goes wrong anyway.

This! No one left behind!
Although, if your campaign is about to fail and this is a last resort, it is ok to send whoever volunteers.

E: In theory, you can sacrifice a rookie to kill a VIP too, but what are we, ISIS?
I would at least try to do it without the sacrifice. For VIPs, get a sniper or technical (I had a mission, where I could rocket right out of the evac zone. Muahahahaha), for hacking, a specialist and a shinobi. Get the Gotcha Again mod, see from where the spec can hack, throw an evac flare on that point, hide until evac arrives, run on the point, hack, evac. Shinobi scouts, of course. See Xwynns on yt for a gazillion of these kind of missions. I love them

The hack thing was impossible to reach, he was sorrounded on a corner and died.

The dark event that increases cost of recruits trigered... I already had the free rookies bonus on my home continent.

God has punished me.
