Just checking before filing a bug report here, but I just got a notification about a battle between another faction & the squiddies with no way to do anything except watch the line creep across the bottom - so 2 things come to mind (and I don't know if I am even supposed to be seeing this)
1. Is it going to be possible at some point to watch other factions Space Battles as an observer? (this would be neat, and all it would possibly take is a button on the notification that appears (currently it's largely black and there is plenty of room)
2. Is it going to be possible to switch this off in the interests of 'seen it once'?
Of course, both of the above depend on this being by design.

1) Not planned currently.
2) It's more like a loading bar than it is meant to inform the player. Large simulated combats can take several seconds for the game to resolve, so we pop up that UI and keep it updated so the game doesn't feel like it's locked up. We have performance improvements in the pipeline but I don't expect the need for this to go away.
