Try the long war 2 compatible mercenary plasma rifle mod, they look worlds better than the vanilla.

Re: Good PG Projects
Sting grenades are far superior to any grenade the PG can make. A well placed incendiary grenade can be far superior to a sting grenade. Guaranteed massive damage + "stun" >>>>> 50% stun with no damage. It takes some ugprades/perks to get the radius up enough to hit enough men, but once y...

Technicals suck. After April I stick the ones I have as haven supports. They are a liability.

Re: Good PG Projects
I like dragon rounds and poison rounds. Tactical vest is great for stacking up armor. Literally everything else is subjective. Every single one of my grenadiers is specced for support not damage, so I couldn't care less about the grenades. Sting grenades are far superior to any grenade the PG can ma...

What do alien facility leads do in LW2?
I obtained a facility lead drop and I have yet to research it. I was wondering what it actually does in LW2. Does it skip the entire liberation line and allow you to directly assault the HQ? If so that seems rather powerful. Does it simply give you the lead that allows you to start the chain? I was ...

Re: Covering Fire as a lvl 1 Offensive AWC perk
Any overwatch based soldier should have a PCS chip that requires a 50% chance or better before they fire. Building an overwatch soldier without one of those chips is just asking for sadness. Fair, but what if it isn't an overwatch build? Like a Pistol wielding Sharpshooter that took Covering Fire o...

Ideally you should be liberating your first region by mid april at the latest. The income bonus from liberation is absolutely vital to stay ahead of ADVENT's own tech progress.

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
I went in and changed the "days per psi rank above yours for training" from 12 to 6. This makes low level psis get abilities like soulfire after a day, but abilities like null lance or domination still take 30 days. However, it's not the ridiculous 64 days or something like that. I don't t...

Re: Smoke grenades are officially amazing
Rapid deployment on a support grenadier is pretty much the best. Rapid deploy a smoke and then flash and it pretty much guarantees you an entire turn free of damage. Smoke can be dangerous if you are close to the enemies though because they will use AOE abilities instead (poison, grenades, rockets)....

I wish they had better explanations in game for pretty much everything. I figured it out by reading the forums and restarting two campaigns. It's still got stuff that is vague, like exactly what the tactical dark events effect and such.

Re: Too many faceless
Sounds like a trap mission. Some VIP missions are traps set by ADVENT. They end up having a ton of faceless and reinforcements. Because of Trap missions, I now will spend extra rounds sneaking to the EVAC area first. Then, if I have a chance to bag the VIP then I will, but if the reward is only some...

Re: Which difficult should I chose?
Proper haven management is crucial. Early game mistakes in that area can come back to haunt you. You really need to go full recruit/intel on your starting haven and get those liberation missions ASAP. Getting an early liberation really sets you up cashwise for the rest of the game. In my current gam...

Re: Kubikiri = Almost Repeater, right?
I respecced my sniper and got rid of kubikiri. My experience was that most of the time the minimum damage was enough to finish off the target. The one time I used it on a big HP unit, it didn't crit. It's just not a good skill. It should be a 5 turn cool down and automatically crit anything that is ...

Re: "Mimic Beacons" .. far out -- of reach!
I kind of wish mimic beacons could be changed. One of two ways I think. One, they could be one use only like the berserker serum. This would last one turn, and basically be the OP beacons we knew before the nerf. Lots of HP, would use cover, and would force the AI to do really stupid things for one ...

Every gunner I have has Demolition, Hail of bullets, Cyclic fire, and Saturation.
The other perks might switch around a bit, but those four are an absolute must.
Hail of bullets is stupid OP.

I started a campaign on veteran and got destroyed since I was still learning the mechanics and I was having a bitch of a time dealing with the timers (I have multiple map packs installed). Re: Rockets vs. Grenades
I spec nearly every grenadier as a support grenadier. Sting grenades are ridiculously op, especially if you take bluescreen bomb In a pinch you can use the free support grenade ability to launch smoke on your team, and then flashbang the enemies to pretty much guarantee your team is invincible that ...

Re: Few Questions from a Legend difficulty veteran
Rangers aren't really a "frontline unit" like the assault. They are the center point of your formation and one of the most consistant damage dealers. In fact a ranger with some shredder ammo (either the item, or if you were lucky enough to get the AWC perk) is probably the best for taking ...

My Shinobi is still in cover and isn't risking activating another pod. Melee Shinobi's are probably the weakest class except for the first month or two. All my Shinobis go stealth with gun training.

There is nothing better than sneaking a concealed shinobi up to an unactivated pod and using faceoff with a mag pistol.
That is all.

I am pretty sure winning the mission lowers global ADVENT strength by something like 5. I am pretty sure before the mission their global strength was 68 and after I beat it with 4 living rebels, it was 63.

Most of the time a Dark VIP mission is part of the liberation chain, or "find a lead" Killing the dark vip will always count as completing the liberation portion, and you will always achieve "find a lead" The rewards like Intel or extra resistant contacts are only for capturing t...

Re: The Invasion Mission
Depends on the Tactical Dark Events that ADVENT has. Your best bet is to bring a shinobi and a couple of snipers, and have the shinobi find at least one rebel. Never break stealth with him. Have the rest of your group take up defensive positions around the EVAC point until you get that rebel safe. T...
