I never had any access to enough engineers to overide the gremlins, so it was super useful for me. Turning 1 engineer into 2 or 2 into 4 is quite nice since supplies seem to be easier to get than engineers.

You know what I think would be awesome and terrifying? If the Etherials were huge. Like three stories tall huge, taking up 2X2 spaces like the Sectopod. @Valaska There is a continent bonus that gives a 3rd slot on weapon customising. Never had it yet personally but it sounds like you could get some really strong weapons :p

Xcom2 starts from the ending 90% of players on impossible difficulty got (the canon difficulty) which was defeat in the first month.

There are no veterans to transfer, we didn't even get lasers.

I'd imagine it depends on how much focus they will be putting on their own project, or if "Long War 2" will be a thing.

Either way I think it's a beloved mechanic so it'll probably be modded in at some point!

That's an amazing post Vae Victus. I have a feeling the only other motivation that makes sense is "intergalact environmentalists" trying to get rid of all species that are destroying ecosystems. Though that might be more difficult to justify fighting against when we could probably negotiate.
