Re: Two Invasions in less than 10 days - bug or intended

And that also means I have to fight endless invasions every 8-10 days until the end of this campaign or until I run out of soldiers/liberated regions. There was a post on here stating that the invading region loses 2 strength points when you successfully defend the invasion. Maybe you will see a de...

Re: Just had my first Invasion

I've fired a shot at the relay with a mag equipped sniper that did 8 damage and failed to destroy the relay in one hit. Was it on a rooftop? If so, I guess it doesn't happen all the time? Odd. As I said, I've seen multiple people mention this and had it happen myself. Yes was on the rooftop. I'd al...

Re: Just had my first Invasion

There actually appears to be a bug involving the relay on Invasion missions. Any shot that hits the relay destroys it instantly, and if you look you can see a single tile hole in the roof where it was. It's not clear to me if the bug involves the shot destroying the floor (which destroys the relay)...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC

Thanks to all the folks at Pavonis for Long War 2. I was really amazed with the class balance and that there are multiple viable builds for each class type. I think you all succeeded in that regard more than any other game I have played. I was not impressed with what I have seen of WotC, I would onl...

Ah, I had wondered if my thread might be too verbose for some. Yes, I'm happy to discuss details in a more condensed form here. Thanks for your posts. Inconsistency is good for replayability in this case. I think it would get boring real quick if we could use the exact same pattern over and over in the strategic layer.

Excellent write up. Not sure I agree on Psi being overpowered. Feels to me more like a necessary equalizer, at least at my skill level. One of my favorite things is getting a muton elite or other high defensive perks advent aid protocol them in high cover and watch advent miss all their shots. Make ...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

I find the real benefit to vulture is the extra elerium core drops, and being able to sell them on the black market. In both my last two campaigns the black market happened to want elerium cores a few weeks after purchasing vulture. Easily made my money back and was a nice boost to early game econo...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.

What? You can upgrade the Sawn-off. You can, but only to Mag Shorty, which requires Advanced Coil according to Ufopaedia. Which leaves you hanging from early midgame to late midgame. When your guys use mag weapons, a rifle shot does the same damage as a one-barrel shotgun, and a ranger double-shot ...

They did update the damage in the last patch from what I recall. Now it should kill every type and tier of Advent soldier.
Just to clarify the damage update is for skulljack only, and not skullmine. T3's may still survive a hit with skullmine.

On larger missions and bases, I prefer to have my hacking specialists officers who are generally towards the back near the snipers for when I need to use Get Some for DFA snip...

There was a post here I can't find now that said in Vanilla range modifiers were removed for advent. Not sure if thats the case but I figured thats why an advent gunner will blow your troops away from across the map, but once you mind control him, that gunner can't hit the side of a barn.

Re: LW 1.5 Ranger Builds

I go with one build thats OW centric. I enjoy somewhat tanky ranger with strong OW. I play with Commander's choice and my rangers often end up being the guys with high aim/low movement with good to decent defense and dodge, otherwise that soldier ends up a sharpshooter. Decent to high aim with low d...

I use the same build except for Close Encounters over Rapid Fire. I like that I can do anything I want with the second action after firing up close, such as fire the arc thrower. Or I can move out of cover, and take a close encounters flanking shot, then move back into cover. My brother prefers Elec...

I happily use mix of shinobi and specialist officers. I try to keep someone training at all times and make use of quick study where possible. I've never had a muton who is disoriented or stunned counterattack. Those are the only two debuffs I know of to make it safe to melee attack.

Panic however doesn't seem to stop units from taking overwatch shots or counterattack.

Mutons are the fun police to rampaging shinobi. Seems like the muton elites are also very resistant to sting grenades.
