Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #14: Ship design
- We've conceived of missile weapons as entirely antiship in nature. They also have limited ammo relative to other weapons so you'll use them up quickly in bombardment. Bombardment is a state you put a fleet in and lasts for a meaningful time in the strategy layer; it's not a combat mode where you ...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #14: Ship design
For what gameplay reason that missiles can't be used in orbital bombardment? Modern human already have MIRV so it must be related to gameplay.

This one seems good.johnnylump wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 1:21 pm The trailer just shows off the ship models close up. This is (VERY roughly) what actually playing the battles will look like:

Re: Terra Invicta Reveal Trailer is live!
Up until you show two fleet engage each other, it makes me interested in the game; but the fleet battle part is ugly as hell. I know the game development is at pre-alpha, and the semi-realistic spacecraft design actually looks good. But the style of "slow moving" spacecraft and projectile,...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #5: Nations, Part 2
Is there a better word to describe "nation", like "Sovereignty", "Regime" or "Government"? I do understand it's a necessary abstraction, but it still feels a bit weird to see "Non-existent nations like Germany and Italy". English is my second languag...

Re: Children of a Dead Earth
One interesting thing in CoaDE is that the game realistically depicts how brutal the range is in space. Though laser and railgun are very powerful, most battle will still be decided with missiles and attack drones, as they have so much range that even laser become "knife fight" weapon. It ...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #3: Resources
I hope that we will talk a bit about warfare in next Dev Diary of Terra Invicta. Based on current information, it seems that we will have Black Ops, large scale ground warfare, then Fleet Operation in space. Black Ops is abstracted, so we will mostly focus on the other two. I'm curious that how will...

Free-exchange of ideas is great for science but there's nothing like tyranny for getting...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #3: Resources
It may be too early to ask it, but since the game start in 2020, how would you handle certain political and geopolitical problems in real life in TI? For example, who will be the president of United States in game, or will it be randomly decided?

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #3: Resources
Thank you for reply. As a softcore Xcom2 vanilla player, I usually only have to keep track of supply, intel and soldier status. Other resources usually won't be playthrough-breaking problem when I follow strategy guide, and don't need constant management. In LW2, producing and managing weapons and e...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #3: Resources
I'm very unsatisfied with #3. A complex resource system will always be hard to balance and frustrating for players. It also eats a large chunk of UI. I hope we can cut it to 2-3 types, plus some special resource that players don't have to keep an eye at. For example, we are going to resolve things o...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #1
Based on information in Dev Diary 2, I would assume the scenario in TI is somehow similar to first and second Formic Invasion in Ender's Game. Armies in TI means "multiple modern divisions", rather than small squads in Xcom series. If we need dozens of divisions to fight aliens, there's cl...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #2: Factions
Is it possible for some factions to achieve some kind of alliance, merge or evolve in mid or late game? For example: RESIST-COOPERATE: Understand or persuade the aliens is our final goal, but we will fight with tooth and nail if needed. APPEASE-COOPERATE: Try to preserve more human independence thro...
