Infil also affect enemy detection range and evac time.
Oh crap it affects detection range, did not know that! O.o

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

I'm kind of waiting to hear your real conclusion - are you now an enthusiastic supporter of 1 x basic research? ;) Question: How important is finishing up Resistance comms to you? For me, I do it immediately because being able to expand to 2 more havens, even if I'm not doing missions on it, I can l...

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

So you are saying that basic research does actually give research like a scientist not just reduce requirements? My test game must have been buggy, because I didn't get that outcome. It's not necessarily that your test is buggy, it's possible you already had a lot of scientists and the research tim...

Re: Boosting Infiltration sometimes has no effect?

I'm doing one of the Liberation missions on my Commander difficulty game, and I have to Neutralize a target. I sent in a small two-man squad hoping to do it stealthily, and thinking that I'd be able to get the Enemy Strength down low enough to be able to do this. At the moment (at 103% infiltration...

Well fleche is just a sidepoint, I'm curious about the skill on your soldiers in general since I don't see them getting the buff when far away from teamates.

Re: Balance: gunner secondary, chameleon suit

Maybe something that gives it utility instead of just damage? Like debuffing enemy mobility/aim/will , in a way crippling the enemy. Could be a free action with a cooldown that allows the gunner to fall back to a new shooting position. Not sure how usefull that would be in practice, I didn't play m...

Re: Legendary/Impossible Balance

I realize that Long War is a mod where you're supposed to balance potential gains vs risk. But out of the first 6 missions I've had sufficient infiltration time to get enemy preparedness down to "light" or "extremely light" only twice. And the others just turn into massive grind...

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

Yep, I believe that's exactly it's intended purpose, as an option of last resort since part of the tech tree is designed to be gated. As to whether it is optimal to do it even if you have options though, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Of course I believe that's its intended purpose, but the fact that is increases resea...

Re: Haven advisors

The other corpses have enough other sources for me to think destroying them is worth saving haven personnel. Exactly. When you get a group of 4 rebels and half have shotguns, 1 has an smg, you might not be able to overwatch the first pod reliably to death, hence you risk injuries/death on the count...

Re: Balance: gunner secondary, chameleon suit

I realize this situation will not happen often, but with this, there can be cover while in melee range.
Cool, I'm glad you know you're nitpicking. So what kind of buff do you think the gunner's knife should get?

Re: Several questions

Great, cheers for replies. 1 more thing I am not sure about: 1. How exactly I can speed up region liberation? 2. How can i distinguish non-liberated and liberated regions? 3. Forgot about maximum rebels on jobs - I am sure I read somewhere but cant remember. Max rebels in each region is? 13? AFAIK,...

Re: Lone wolf perk bugged?

I do recall seeing the buff activate on advent scouts and PI shows their buffed stats, I just don't see the buffed stats on my soldier so I don't know if it's working. Also I wonder if it does order of operations properly with fleche, like if you start near your allies but your final sword move has ...

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

So you're saying maybe just research it once early game? I don't know what the magic break point is, maybe it's 2, maybe it's 1 early on. I doubt it's zero. There's leeway in the early game where you don't need to rush lasers or whatever else, might as well use that time to invest in the long run.

Lone wolf perk bugged?

The one that gives +10 aim and defense if you are more than 7 tiles away from any ally. I'm using Perfect Information and I clicked on a lone wolf guy who is clearly away from his allies and I don't see any +aim or defense, and there's no buff icon either so how can I tell if it's working or not?

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

AP ammo and tracer rounds are gated behind the first two autopsys IIRC and they are really useful and only cost 5 supplies a pop. That's one for every trooper corpse or 2 per sectoid. Building AWC early is also beneficial to help injuries from dominoing and to start training those extra perks. Of c...

Doh tracers is not just 5 supply, it's 1 elerium as well. I guess this is where rendering cores helps in the early game.

Re: Incendiary grenade has a radius of 1 tile. :(

Most of the ammo IS nerfed in comparison to vanilla. AP rounds pierce 2 armor, down from 5 Talon Rounds is +10 crit, down from +20 crit Tracer Rounds is +5 aim, down from +10 aim Bluescreen Rounds is +3 dmg, down from +5 dmg (incidentally high ground is only +10 aim, not +20) I think venom/dragon do...

Re: Several questions

Thanks for answers. Some more things I'd like to figure out: 1) Can I somehow check my current region status? I mean I made a contact and have a region going under my control. So to liberate it I should do certain amount of missions and finally assault an alien headquarters in this region. How can ...

Re: Intel and "intel pacakage"

The intel package generates a point of interest you can scan for a reward, like rookies, a scientist, some supplies, that sort of thing. They're fairly valuable and you should aim for them when possible.
Wow I did not know that. I just thought the point of interests spawn randomly!! O_O

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

When I tested, all it did was remove the scientist required, days stayed the same. However it is entirely possible a bug or a mod conflict occurred. I am not sure what the intended behavior is just what happened for me. Looking at days doesn't necessarily help because one scientist doesn't always r...

Re: Balance: gunner secondary, chameleon suit

If you are including quick draw then knife gets three attacks (quick draw plus two knife stabs) pistol gets QuickDraw plus one pistol. I hope you understand that just puts things in favor of the pistol, because a gunner with pistol gets pistol + 2 knives, vs a gunner without a pistol is just 2 kniv...

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

It reduces time to research too. Was watching a stream and it dropped research by 2 days on plasma when JoINrbs tested it out to see what it did. Now I"m really confused; this is exactly what I want to know. Soeone here said it doesn't, and someone here said it does. Who's right? How much does...
