TL;DR: Any soldier without an outright penalty to dodge is still reliably protected from melee attacks. If this is true, then pretty much this entire thread is obsolete. The 1.5 change to combatives only really applies to soldiers with very low dodge. And a player can mitigate the RNG by not taking...

It's actually 3 *rounds*, not 3 actions. Basically, it will lose actions for 2 alien turns, not 1, which is a pretty big deal. On the 2nd alien turn, it will stand up and become un-stunned, but will have no actions.

Wow, ok, so currently the remaining HP has to be at most 99% of total HP to trigger the "executed" effect, which only comes into play when you have enemies with >100hp

Yes there is. There's even some different Tygan dialogue, though my impression from the 2 or 3 times I've heard it is that it's stitched together using snippets from the Advent Officer, Muton, and Shield Bearer autopsies.

That doesn't fix the problem at all. If a player is willing to hang around fighting waves of enemies for a few XP, why wouldn't they be willing to run a crappy mission (say, a get advent attention, or a simple POI), forgo the objective and stick around fighting waves of enemies?
