So I was doing a Datatap mission, I had 3 rebels and a liason. Unfortunately I also had infamous 0-turn pod activation, so my rebels were slaughtered, and liason barely escaped. The datapad was destroyed next turn... So mission failed, I return to base... and see that I still have 2 rebels doing intel in the haven...
Does this mean these two rebels are faceless?! Or they were just lucky to take a day off?

Probably, although rebel soldiers could also have been Faceless. Did you not get 4-5 rebel soldiers with the Advisor tho?

It means only 3 "rebels" were at the data tap when ADVENT retaliated. You can't draw any conclusions about any of the haven members from this.
The game randomly assigns 3-6 rebels who were working the intel job to the mission. Some of these may be faceless in disguise. Some of the guys that weren't assigned may be faceless in disguise. If they die and are faceless, you still won't know (which is wierd, but OK).
