Panic and Sight range

So I had a grenadier way back in the map, with no line of sight to the other soldiers in the squad. Grenadier had only line of sight to one rescue vip and the rescue vip had also only sight to my grenadier. One of my other squadmates was killed and the grenadier rolled for a panic check and become panicked although he had no line of sight to others or to the killed squadmate.
