Could really use some help fixing, this is the furthest I've ever gotten in the war and I'm too tired to start from scratch.
Setup
LW Version: 1.5, subscribed via Steam Workshop
Base XCom 2 (no WotC)
+Shen's
+Alien Hunters
Windows 10
Ryzen 5 2600
16 GB ram
Geforce GTX 1660ti
Stock settings, no overclocking.
Other mods:
Capnbubs Accessories Pack - No Expansion
Mission Award Variety
Conditions
When launching a new mission it shows the short over-the-shoulder cut-scene of soldiers getting into position, but right as it would normally give control for the first turn the game instead crashes to desktop.
Crash log and redscreen attached.
Remedies tried already
[*]Removing all mods except Long War
[*]Clearing \My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config
[*]Steam "Verify integrity of game files"
[*]Updating all graphics and motherboard drivers
[*]All graphics to off/minimum
[*]Searching for any overclock settings and turning them off
[*]Reinstalling VCRedist, .Net framework and DirectX
[*]Unsubbing all mods, uninstalling XCom 2, reinstalling XCom 2, reinstalling Long War 2
[*]Uninstalling everything, clean install of all of the above
[*]Enable redscreens and log the crash
Notes:
[*]Game runs fine without Long War enabled
[*]I am able to start Gatecrasher (w/ LW) without the crash after the reinstall
[*]Every time I 'verify game files' it finds 2 bad files and re-downloads the Steam Workshop, even if I run it consecutively.

Ugh, that's an ugly one. I don't see anything obvious in the log. Have you tried sending a different group of soldiers? Or skipping the mission and attempting another one?
Re: Game redscreens on mission start about 50 hours in
I aborted the mission and started a new mission with a different squad and no crash.
I sent the same squad members on a new mission and now that mission crashes.
I am now suspicous of my grenadier Javier Vázquez. He's the last one to load in the launch log before the crash, and above that there are 2 script warnings about 'bonus grenade slot use'
I have backed up my save file so I might try sending the same mission without him, or sending just him.
There's also the line in both redscreens about LWSoldierSocket.meshes but I Viewed Soldier on each member of the team and nothing looks weird about their props or equipment.

You might be onto something with the grenade issue. Maybe play around with his gear a bit (or could be a perk issue).
What triggers a redscreen isn't always definitive; it's sometimes a warning.

I was wrong to suspect poor Vazquez, it seems Maurizio Gallo is the traitor.
If I send him a mission with anyone else, the game immediately crashes on the first turn.
If I send him by himself, the game immediately shows the Mission Failed screen, then it cuts to him pretending to be all upset in the Skyranger. Somehow he is missing 2 health, but not wounded. He also shows up with full health on the Squad Select.
What do I do with this guy?

Re: Game redscreens on mission start about 50 hours in
I think I figured it out. He's a ghost.
He's in my squad management page and I can edit him from the mission launch screen, but not actually in my vanilla View Soldiers list. (but also not on the Fallen Soldiers Memorial wall)
The squad he's part of was the one I dumped all my haven advisors into early in the game as a reminder they existed in case I needed them for a mission.
A while ago I wasn't able to respond to a haven assault and I was curious what would happen if I didn't send a team. Would I get a mission with just the advisor and some civilians? Nope, he just disappeared, presumably killed along with all my intel gatherers.
I assume Gallo was that advisor and dying off-screen doesn't actually remove them from the squad.
Central: Oh hey, you guys are back early.
Commander: Skyranger's haunted.
Central: what?
Commander: *loading pistol and heading back to ship* Skyranger's haunted.

Glad you solved it. Legit bug there.
